2012 CAF Champions League: Preview #1

This weekend sees the start of the 2012 CAF Champions League. It begins with a preliminary round, first leg match between Kenyan Champions Tusker, and Rwandan Champions APR. Tusker will be making their first appearance in the competition since 2006. For APR this year’s competition will see them appearing in the competition for the third year running.

2012 Copa Libertadores Group Stage: Review #2

This week saw another round of matches take place in the group stage of this year’s Copa Libertadores. It saw wins for Defensor Sporting (Uruguay), Atletico Nacional (Colombia), The Strongest (Bolivia), Libertad (Paraguay), and Godoy Cruz (Argentina).

Three of Brazil’s representatives in this year’s competition (Corinthians, Flamengo, and Santos) failed to win their respective matches. Corinthians drew 1-1 away at Deportivo Tachira, while Flamengo drew 1-1 away at Lanus. Santos lost 2-1 away The Strongest.

Boca Juniors, six-times winners of the Copa Libertadores, drew 0-0 in their opening match against Zamora in Barinas (Venezuela).
